LEVELS [1: INTRODUCTION]

Psychological Levels: Why Drama and Conflict Are Everywhere

hoe_math breaks down why drama and conflict are everywhere: most people are stuck at different psychological levels. He lays out nine levels of consciousness, showing how we go from pure survival mode to more advanced ways of seeing the world—if we actually grow up. Most fights, whether it’s with your girl, at work, or online, are just people clashing from totally different mindsets. hoe_math uses real-life examples to show how these levels play out and how recognizing them is the secret to better communication, stronger relationships, and way less drama.

1|169|353|R|I see, feel, smell, and hear through my senses. I feel reactions to these senses, like fear, hunger, curiosity, or sexual arousal. I want to get things that I like for myself, and I want to get away from things that I don’t like. I get hungry, tired, warm, or cold, and I feel motivated to get what I need to stop those feelings. Life is about dealing with my needs and feeling good by getting what I want.
2|169|296|R|I know that other people and animals also have senses and desires and feelings. I perceive feelings much like my own feelings coming from other sources around me. Sometimes, I make the mistake of experiencing a feeling in myself, but perceiving that it’s coming from someone or something else, like a person, an animal, or even a tree or an unseen “spirit.” I can now respond to the feelings I see in others, and to their needs. Life is about pleasing others (or the gods) so that they do what we want.
3|169|230|R|I live in a world full of different people, each with their own agenda. They all want what they want, and they’re looking out for themselves, because they have to. That’s what life is - it’s about getting your way. Everyone has to work with (or around) the needs and feelings of others - or at least what they think others are feeling - to get what they want, and I need to win that game. I can get what I want by taking or creating advantages for myself, and I better do it because no one will do it for me.
4|169|167|B|We all have our own lives to deal with, and our own problems. That can make us pretty selfish, and sometimes we don’t agree on what’s right. If we don’t stick to the rules and do what we know is good, life is chaos. It’s every man for himself. Life is about knowing what’s good and what’s bad, what’s right and what’s wrong, doing the right thing to remain good, and making things better.
5|169|102|B|When you think about it, what’s “good” and “bad” is different for different people, and for different groups of people too. What’s good for me might not be good for you, and what works in my country might not work in yours. Before we make any big decisions, we should look at the facts so we know how to get the outcome we want. After all, everyone really wants what’s best for them and their own, not to be forced into a life of service to your boss or to some “God.” Life is about knowing how to make good things happen, keeping the benefits, and always improving.
6|674|305|R|Everyone’s unique, and we should all be allowed to be who we are. Society’s rules often hold people back from what they really want, and we should all just do our own thing instead. How can one person ever tell someone else what to do? You’re not them, so that’s not fair. You can’t judge someone if you didn’t live their life. I don’t even have rules for myself! I’m a different person over here than I am over there. Maybe if we all stopped trying to tell each other what to do, we could have world peace.
7|674|235|R|It would be nice if everyone could do what they wanted, but life isn’t that simple. Who I am and what I want changes so often — I can’t imagine one set of rules or one version of the truth that works for everyone. People are complex, and life is constantly changing. We can’t just let go and hope for the best. We need to base our choices on what we know about ourselves from our past and build a world that’s ready for what we’re pretty sure is going to happen, even if that means making judgments and imposing restrictions. It might feel bad to say ‘no’ to people, but sometimes, it’s for the best.
8|674|167|B|The world is too complex to control. Life is not a game, it’s a show. You can’t know for sure what will happen before you act, you can only learn and try. You can intend to do anything you want, and you can be as careful as you want, but to some degree, you have to watch what happens and see how you feel about it later. Life is an experiment. We’re all figuring things out as we go. We should all have safe places to try new things, share what we learned, and do it again if it was good. All we can do is the best that we know, so we should all know more.
9|674|100|B|In an unpredictable world, everything we do is only a gesture or a wish, especially over long stretches of time. Sometimes we’re good at what we do, and our wishes come true — or so we think. For now. Sometimes not so much. Sometimes, we don’t even know. There is not always such a thing as ‘is’ or ‘is not’, ‘will’ or ‘will not’. There is only ‘seems to me…’ or not. Or both. Or neither. The only certain thing is the watcher in us watching and the wisher in us wishing. We are not what we do or what we make, we are the watchers of the doing and the becoming. I am not the main character, I am just the spotlight. What is revealed is what I illuminate. If we want a better world and a better life, we have to learn where and how to shine the light.

5.0 The answers are all right here if you have the time to read them. 8.0 Why is everyone losing their minds? 10.0 Where do all these new ideologies come from? 14.0 Why don't men and women get along anymore? 17.0 Why has everyone lost track of right and wrong? 23.0 This is a map of consciousness, a map of your mind. 26.0 It explains why people see things differently, but don't worry, I'll make it simple. 31.0 Consciousness grows in predictable levels, and many researchers have studied this. 37.0 The biggest reason everything is so weird right now is that we built a world at a high level of thinking, but we're no longer growing to meet it. 49.0 Levels of thinking are stages of psychological development, explaining why people behave differently. 57.0 When you're born, you start at the simplest level: every newborn baby cares only about its own needs and feelings. 66.0 As you grow and learn, you start putting things together. 69.0 Level two is when you realize other people also have their own needs and feelings, and you can connect with them. 76.0 Level three is understanding that you live in a large world full of interconnected people, and you can manipulate these connections for your goals. 88.0 Everyone moves through these levels at different speeds and stops at different points depending on various factors, like a plant needing sunlight, air, water, and soil. 106.0 In optimal environments, average consciousness is about level four or five, with approximately 15% reaching level six, while the global average is between levels three and four. 178.0 My chart simplifies understanding these nine levels clearly, divided into easy-to-follow rows and columns. 210.0 Levels four and five dominate Western cultures, emphasizing conformity and personal achievement. 249.0 In densely populated cities, you might find higher percentages at levels three and six, which I'll explain more about later. 273.0 Most of my videos focus on dating and relationships, which become clearer when you understand how people think. 285.0 This graphic is based on Ken Wilber's integral theory or the "all quadrant, all level" map, essentially a comprehensive map of everything perceivable or knowable. 332.0 For now, just focus on the levels since they're the most relatable and engaging part. 341.0 Misunderstandings occur because people assume others think the same way they do, leading to issues such as miscommunication in relationships. 350.0 For example, a girl might assume a man knows her feelings without explicitly stating them. 368.0 Someone with family trauma might see a lack of red flags as suspicious, projecting hidden issues onto others. 381.0 Media can implant simplistic beliefs like "men are bad," causing people to misinterpret innocent remarks negatively. 420.0 Higher-level thoughts emerge when you begin to consider other people's perspectives, like realizing your father has insights into how men think. 453.0 Perception differences are clear when comparing human disgust at dog waste versus a fly seeing it as a valuable resource. 496.0 This concept extends to relationship misunderstandings, like differing reactions to physical versus emotional cheating. 612.0 People at lower levels or different levels often struggle with communication because they incorrectly assume shared knowledge or perspectives. 654.0 "Scumbag Steve" illustrates how misunderstandings occur when someone is unaware others have differing viewpoints, such as believing smoking is universally acceptable if not explicitly forbidden. 749.0 A classic example is children buying gifts for parents based on what they find appealing, not understanding parental preferences. 841.0 Quickly summarizing levels: Level one is basic desire; level two is appeasing others; level three involves controlling social interactions; level four is about conformity and rules; level five centers around personal achievement. 1115.0 Level six questions traditional definitions of success, leading to a broad acceptance and self-discovery phase, often misunderstood by lower levels. 1240.0 Forced universal inclusion can cause severe societal dysfunction because lower-level individuals misuse the concept, believing it removes all rules. 1298.0 Level six’s goal of universal inclusion is often manipulated by people at lower levels who do not genuinely understand the concept. 1463.0 True social integration respects diverse perspectives and allows harmonious coexistence without forcing conformity. 1574.0 Harmony, alignment, and practical coexistence exemplify the balanced approach to integrating different consciousness levels effectively. 1620.0 Understanding these levels significantly aids interpersonal dynamics, parenting, politics, and society overall, explaining my channel's rapid growth and success. 1645.0 Next time, I'll explore each level individually to provide even deeper insights.
